15 Lessons from 31 Years
31 is different.
If you were clinging to your 20s, you’ve officially lost your grip and fallen into the next decade. It begins a decade of moving with a new purpose in a new way. Your 20s are spent just trying to figure it all out, and although that never really changes, what does change is your certainty in your growth.
Here are 15 Lessons I’ve learned living 31 years:
Life isn’t fair
Buy the Lego set
Life’s too short to not eat delicious food
Everyone should see a therapist at least once
Taking care of yourself is taking care of others
Your internal beliefs dictate your external actions
Seek out people who are ahead of you and learn
Seek out people who coming up behind you and teach
People are too self-absorbed to judge you — live your life
Do what you can to take care of your mind and body to live a fuller life
Stop waiting for the right time to do something — it is when you say it is
Learning to work within your circumstances to change them is a powerful skill
Reading makes you a better writer (but writing makes you an even better writer)
People overestimate what they can achieve in one year and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade
Skip the 4-year university and save money getting an associates degree at a community college — then go to the university to finish up
